SOME EARLY PRODUCTION 1982 "S" TRUCKS WITH 2.8L V6 ENGINE MAY EXHIBIT AN OBJECTIONABLE NOISE COMING FROM THE A.I.R. SYSTEM CHECK VALVE. TO CORRECT THIS CONDITION, A NEW CHECK VALVE HAS BEEN RELEASED WHICH HAS A THINNER VALVE SPRING WHICH OPENS AT A LOWER FLOW RATE THEREBY CORRECTING THE NOISE IN THE SYSTEM. THE NEW CHECK VALVE (P/N 22035420) REPLACES THE OLD VALVE. THERE ARE TWO (2) CHECK VALVES REQUIRED FOR VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A FEDERAL EMISSION SYSTEM (RPO NA5) AND ONE (1) IS REQUIRED FOR CALIFORNIA EMISSION SYSTEM (RPO NB2) EQUIPPED VEHICLES. USE APPLICABLE LABOR OPERATION NUMBER.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
