SPECIAL POLICY: MANIFOLD EXHAUST PIPE SEALS LEAKING

MODELS: 1985 S/T MODELS WITH 2.8L (RPO LR2) ENGINE AND CALIFORNIA EMISSIONS (YFS)

General Motors has determined that some 1985 S/T model trucks with the 2.8L (RPO LR2) engine and California emissions (YF5) may exhibit an exhaust leak. This condition may be caused by an inadequate seal(s) between the exhaust manifold and exhaust pipe.

New exhaust manifold to exhaust pipe seals and bolts have been released to correct this condition. The new bolts can only be used on the right side, while the new seal can be used on both sides.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
