THIS BULLETIN CANCELS AND SUPERSEDES 85-B-58 (MARCH, 1985), ALL COPIES OF WHICH SHOULD BE DESTROYED.
Some 1982 through 1985 THM 700-R4 transmission models may exhibit a firm or harsh 1-2 shift condition. After the complaint has been verified, inspect the T.V. cable for proper operation and adjustment (Follow the T.V. cable adjustment procedures contained in the appropriate Service Information Manual.) If the T.V. system is operating properly, a service package (see charts below) may be required to correct the condition. Adjustment of the T.V. cable will also be required after repairs have been made to the transmission. The charts below show the model year, transmission models, service package part numbers and package contents. The highlighted transmission models and service package part numbers indicate additional information not included on the previously issued bulletin. The "NOTES" included within the chart indicate when the new parts went into production on some of the 1985 models. Refer to Figure No. 1 for transmission model identification and Figures No. 2, 3, and 4 for identification of the parts contained in the packages. All the parts shown in Figures No. 2, 3, and 4 are not included in every package, but they are shown in order to assist the technician in disassembly and assembly. Refer to the appropriate Service Information Manual for part removal and installation procedures.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
