MODELS: 1985 M15 SAFARI VAN MODEL TRUCK EQUIPPED WITH RPO N40, POWER STEERING

THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION SUPPLEMENTS THE "SERVICE PROCEDURE SECTION" OF CAMPAIGN BULLETIN 85-C-14. PLEASE UPDATE YOUR BULLETIN ACCORDINGLY.

In some isolated cases the steering gear to frame rail brace, Part Number 15555225, will not easily fit onto the steering gear side cover studs. In those instances it will be necessary to loosen the steering gear to frame attaching bolts, 3 total, enough that the gear can be moved away from the frame rail. Install brace on studs and retorque gear to frame attaching bolts to 82 N.m (60 ft.lbs.).

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
