ANTENNA WIND NOISE NEW DESIGN ANTENNA

THIS BULLETIN IS BEING REVISED TO ADD THE 1993 MODEL YEAR AND TO CHANGE SERVICE PARTS INFORMATION. PREVIOUS DIVISIONAL PUBLICATION NUMBERS WERE:

SUBJECT: ANTENNA WIND NOISE (REPLACE WITH NEW ANTENNA)

MODELS: 1985-93 CHEVROLET AND GMC TRUCK M/L VANS BUILT PRIOR TO THE FOLLOWING VIN BREAKPOINTS:

CHEVROLET: RB123177 GMC: RB509098

CONDITION:

OWNERS MAY COMMENT ON A HOWLING OR WIND WHISTLE NOISE COMING FROM THE ANTENNA.

CAUSE:

TO VERIFY THAT THE NOISE IS ANTENNA RELATED, REMOVE THE ANTENNA AND DRIVE THE VEHICLE. IF THE NOISE IS ELIMINATED, IT MAY BE NECESSARY TO REPLACE THE ANTENNA WITH THE NEW VERSION.

CORRECTION:

REPLACE WITH A NEW ANTENNA WHICH HAS SUPERIOR WIND NOISE CHARACTERISTICS. THIS INVOLVES A SPIRALED DESIGN WHICH RESOLVES THE WIND NOISE AS IT RELATES TO THE ANTENNA.
