Some 1985-87 M vans may develop a crack in the windshield which originates from the upper right or left corners.
When this condition occurs, or anytime windshield replacement is required, use the extended method as described in the appropriate service manual and move the upper right and left spacers outward to the farthest corner of the windshield frame as shown in Figure No. 1. Do not move the spacers into the curve of the windshield radius.
Relocation of these windshield spacers took place in production beginning with the following VIN breakpoints:
