GEAR HOP-OUT IN COLD WEATHER (REPLACE BOOT/LEVER)

MODELS: 1985-1989 M VANS EQUIPPED WITH MH3/ML2 MANUAL 5 SPEED TRANSMISSIONS

Some 1985-1989 M Vans equipped with 5-speed manual transmissions may experience Gear Hop-Out in cold weather. This condition is caused by the boot assembly exerting sufficient force on the shift lever to pull the transmission out of gear. This condition is unique to cold weather operation.

SERVICE PROCEDURE:

Replace the existing boot and lever with a new design boot,lever and insulator.

SERVICE MANUAL REFERENCES:

Refer to the Shift Controls section of the appropriate service manual for replacement of existing assemblies.
