Beginning June 18, 1986, or Julian date 169, (refer to Figure No. 1) all 1986 THM 700-R4 transmissions are built using new 1-2 and 34 accumulator pistons and seals to assist in maintaining consistent shift points and smoothness.
When servicing 1982 through 1986 THM 700-R4 transmission, use the new pistons and seals (refer to Figure No. 2) which are available as service package part number 8635909 (one piston and one seal per package). Also, tbe oil seal is available separately as service part number 8635568.
