METRI-PACK 150 TERMINAL TERMINAL REMOVAL INSTRUCTION

MODELS: ALL 1986 MODELS

Some 1986 model trucks use a new type of connector and terminals (Metri-Pack, See Figure No. 1) in selected locations. Terminals in these connectors are the pull-to-seat type. The wire is inserted through the seal and the connector body (Figure No. 1-A). The terminal is crimped to the stripped wire, then pulled back into the connector body until it is locked in place (Figure No. 1, B & C). To remove the terminals, first slide the seal back on the wires, then insert tool BT-8518 or J 35689-A as shown in Figure 1, C & B. To release the terminal, push the wire and terminal through the connector. If reusing the terminal, reshape the locking tang.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
