CHEVROLET: 94C26 GMC: 94-C-15 GROUP: BODY EXTERIOR
THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE WAS SENT VIA DCS/EMS ON APRIL 8, 1994.
DATE: APRIL 1994
GENERAL MOTORS HAS DETERMINED THAT CERTAIN M/L VANS DO NOT HAVE PRIMER ON THE LEFT FRONT BODY SIDE STATIONARY GLASS WEATHERSTRIP. WITHOUT THIS PRIMER INSTALLED THERE WILL NOT BE ADEQUATE ADHESION BETWEEN THE WINDOW ASSEMBLY WEATHERSTRIP AND THE URETHANE ADHESIVE. THE URETHANE IS NECESSARY TO HOLD THE WINDOW ASSEMBLY TO THE VAN BODY. WITH IMPROPER ADHESION IT WOULD BE POSSIBLE TO PUSH THE WINDOW OUT.
TO CORRECT THIS CONDITION, THE STATIONARY GLASS WEATHERSTRIP IS TO BE CLEANED, PRIMED AND URETHANE ADHESIVE APPLIED TO RETAIN THE GLASS IN POSITION.

SERVICE PROCEDURE
IN ORDER TO CORRECT THIS CONDITION, DEALERS SHOULD REFERENCE THE 1994 SERVICE MANUAL SECTION 10A3-7 (BODY SIDE FIXED WINDOW REPLACEMENT - EXTENDED METHOD). General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
