Removal Procedure
The fixed mast barbless antenna mast is designed to withstand most car
washes without damage. The mast cannot be adjusted up or down. Straighten
the mast by hand if the mast becomes slightly bent. Replace the antenna
if the antenna becomes severely bent. Keep the antenna clean for good
performance.
- Remove the wiper arms.
Refer to Wiper Arm Replacement in Wiper and Washer System.
- Unthread the radio antenna mast.
- Remove the air inlet grille. Refer to
Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement
in Body Front End.
- Remove the antenna cable mounting bolts.
- Remove the radio.
Important: Do not remove the instrument panel.
- Roll the instrument panel back. Refer to
Instrument Panel Assembly Replacement
in Instrument Panel and Gauges.
- Remove the antenna cable
from the clip at the HVAC module.
- Remove the antenna through the grommet on the cowl.
- Remove the antenna cable from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Install the antenna cable
to the vehicle.
- Install the antenna cable though the grommet on the cowl.
- Install the antenna cable to the clip at the HVAC module.
- Roll the instrument panel up. Refer to
Instrument Panel Assembly Replacement
in Instrument Panel and Gauges.
- Install the radio.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the antenna
mounting bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the antenna mounting bolts to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
- Install the air inlet grille. Refer to
Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement
in Body Front End.
- Install the radio antenna mast.
- Install the wiper arms. Refer to Wiper Arm Replacement in Wiper
and Washer System.
- Verify component operation.
