Removal Procedure
- If door lock cylinders require replacement for any reason, apply
a coating of GM P/N 12346241 or equivalent lubricant inside of the
lock case and the cylinder keyway prior to assembling and installing
the cylinder.

- Remove the trim panel. Refer to
Door Trim Panel Replacement
.
- Use a sharp bladed tool in order to separate the water deflector
at the perforations. Refer to
Front Side Door Water Deflector Replacement
- Remove the access hole plug (1).
- Remove the lock rod from the handle .
- Remove the handle to door nuts (4).
- Remove the handle from
the door (2).
- Remove the lock rod from the lock cylinder (3).
- Remove the lock cylinder retainer.
- Remove the lock cylinder and the gasket (5) from the door.
Installation Procedure
Important: Install new plastic retainer clips whenever the lock rods are removed.
- Install the gasket (5) and the lock cylinder to the door.
- Install the lock cylinder retainer .
- Install the lock rod to the lock cylinder.
- Install the handle to
the door (2).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the handle
to door nuts (4).
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 6 N·m (53 lb in).
- Install the handle lock rod to the handle.
- Install the access hole plug (1).
- Install the water deflector. Refer to

- Install the trim panel. Refer to
Door Trim Panel Replacement
.
