The Seat Jerks or Moves with Difficulty when Adjusted Horizontally

Problem

Action

The adjuster shoes and channels are not properly lubricated.

Lubricate the carriages and the seat adjuster slides with a lithium base grease.

The adjuster horizontal actuator gear is too tight to the rack gear.

  1. Inspect the transmission assembly.
  2. Tighten the mounting screws or replace the assembly, if needed.

There is a Horizontal Chuck or Looseness when the Seat is Adjusted

Problem

Action

The horizontal actuator is improperly adjusted to the rack gear.

  1. Inspect the transmission assembly.
  2. Replace the assembly, if needed.

One Seat Adjuster will not Operate Horizontally

Problem

Action

The horizontal drive cable is disconnected or damaged.

  1. Inspect the drive cable.
  2. Replace the drive cable, if needed.

The horizontal actuator is inoperative.

  1. Inspect the adjuster motor assembly.
  2. Replace the assembly, if needed.

One Seat Adjuster will not Operate Vertically

Problem

Action

The vertical drive cable is disconnected or damaged.

  1. Inspect the vertical drive cables.
  2. Replace the cables, if needed.

The vertical gearnut is inoperative.

Replace the vertical actuator assembly.

Both of the Seat Adjusters will not Operate Horizontally and/or Vertically

Problem

Action

One of the following solenoid components is damaged or inoperative:

    • The plunger
    • The shaft
    • The dog
    • The dog spring
    • The gear
    • The drive gear

Replace the damaged or inoperative solenoid components.

There is Vertical Chuck or Looseness When the Seat is Adjusted

Problem

Action

There is excessive clearance at the vertical gearnut tension spring.

Grind down the top of the gearnut shoulder nut 0.40-1.19 mm (1/64-3/64 in) maximum
