Auxiliary Air Conditioning Compressor and Condenser Hose Replacement RPO C60

Removal Procedure

  1. Open the hood.
  2. Disconnect the MAF and the IAT.
  3. Remove the air cleaner. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls.
  4. Discharge and recover the refrigerant from the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  5. Remove the grille. Refer to Grille Replacement in Exterior Trim.
  6. Remove the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement in Interior Trim.

  7. Object Number: 280393  Size: SH
  8. Remove the compressor suction/discharge hose bolt (2) from the compressor.
  9. Remove the old sealing washers from the compressor if still attached. Refer to Compressor Sealing Washers Replacement .

  10. Object Number: 280389  Size: SH
  11. Remove the hose clamp bracket nut (3) from the engine stud.

  12. Object Number: 280389  Size: SH
  13. Remove the compressor discharge hose nut (6) from the condenser.
  14. Remove the compressor suction hose nut (1) from the accumulator.
  15. Remove the bolt from the trans filler tube to the oil indicator tube.
  16. Remove trans filler tube from the throttle cable bracket.
  17. Remove the compressor suction/discharge hose from the vehicle.
  18. Cap all open connections on the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Uncap or plug all open connections.
  2. Install the compressor suction/discharge hose to the vehicle.
  3. Install trans filler tube to the throttle cable bracket.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the bolt to the trans filler tube to the oil indicator tube.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to the trans filler tube to the oil indicator tube to 15  N·m (11 lb ft).

  7. Install the compressor suction hose nut (1) to the accumulator.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the compressor suction hose nut (1) to the accumulator to 27.5 N·m (26 lb ft).

  9. Install the compressor discharge hose nut (6) to the condenser.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the compressor discharge hose nut (6) to the condenser to 48 N·m (35 lb ft).

  11. Install the hose clamp bracket nut (3) to the engine stud.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the hose clamp bracket nut (3) to the engine stud to 5 N·m (44 lb in).

  13. Install the compressor suction/discharge hose seals.
  14. 8.1. Coat the new sealing washers and O-rings with a coat of 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.
    8.2. Install new O-ring seals to the compressor suction/discharge hose ends.
    8.3. Install new seal washers to the Compressor.
    8.4. Install the sealing washers. Refer to Compressor Sealing Washers Replacement .

  15. Install the compressor suction/discharge hose bolt (2) to the compressor.
  16. Tighten
    Tighten the compressor suction/discharge hose bolt (2) to the compressor to 35 N·m (26 lb ft).

  17. Install the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement in Interior Trim.
  18. Install the grille. Refer to Grille Replacement in Exterior Trim.
  19. Evacuate and charge the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  20. Leak test the fitting(s) of the repaired or reinstalled component using the J 39400 .
  21. Install the air cleaner. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls.
  22. Connect the MAF and the IAT.
  23. Close the hood.

Removal Procedure

  1. Open the hood.
  2. Disconnect the MAF and the IAT.
  3. Remove the air cleaner. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls.
  4. Discharge and recover the refrigerant from the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  5. Remove the grille. Refer to Grille Replacement in Exterior Trim.
  6. Remove the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement in Interior Trim.
  7. Raise vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  9. Disconnect the auxiliary evaporator lines nut from the compressor suction hose.
  10. Lower vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  11. Object Number: 280388  Size: SH
  12. Remove the nut that attaches the compressor suction/discharge hose bracket to the engine.

  13. Object Number: 280389  Size: SH
  14. Remove the hose clamp bracket nut (3) from the engine stud.

  15. Object Number: 280393  Size: SH
  16. Remove the compressor suction/discharge hose bolt from the compressor.
  17. Remove the old sealing washers from the compressor if still attached. Refer to Compressor Sealing Washers Replacement .

  18. Object Number: 280389  Size: SH
  19. Remove the compressor discharge hose nut (6) from the condenser.
  20. Remove the compressor suction hose nut (1) from the accumulator.
  21. Remove the compressor suction/discharge hose from the vehicle.
  22. Cap or plug all open connections.

Installation Procedure

  2. Install the compressor suction/discharge hose to the vehicle.

    Tighten the compressor discharge hose nut to the condenser to 27.5 N·m (26 lb ft).

  8. Install new seal washers to the compressor. Refer to Compressor Sealing Washers Replacement .

  10. Install the compressor suction/discharge hose bolt to the compressor.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the compressor suction/discharge hose bolt to the compressor to 35 N·m (26 lb ft).

  12. Install the hose clamp bracket nut (3) to the engine stud.
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the hose clamp bracket nut (3) to the engine stud to 5 N·m (44 lb in).

  14. Remove the nut that attaches the compressor suction/discharge hose bracket to the engine.
  15. Tighten
    Tighten the nut that attaches the compressor suction/discharge hose bracket to the engine to 27 N·m (26 lb in).

  16. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  17. Object Number: 280427  Size: SH
  18. Connect the auxiliary evaporator line nut to the compressor suction hose.
  19. Tighten
    Tighten the auxiliary evaporator line nut to the compressor suction hose to 27.5 N·m (26 lb ft).

  20. Lower the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  21. Install the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement in Interior Trim.
  22. Install the grille. Refer to Grille Replacement in Exterior Trim.
  23. Evacuate and charge the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  24. Leak test the fitting(s) of the repaired or reinstalled component using the J 39400 .
  25. Install the air cleaner. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls.
  26. Connect the MAF and the IAT.
  27. Close the hood.

Removal Procedure

  1. Open the hood.
  2. Disconnect the MAF and the IAT.
  3. Remove the air cleaner. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls.
  4. Discharge and recover the refrigerant from the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  5. Remove the grille. Refer to Grille Replacement in Exterior Trim.
  6. Remove the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement in Interior Trim.

  8. Remove the compressor suction/discharge hose bolt (2) from the compressor.
  9. Remove the old sealing washers from the compressor if still attached. Refer to Compressor Sealing Washers Replacement .

  10. Object Number: 280389  Size: SH
  11. Remove the hose clamp bracket nut (3) from the engine stud.
  12. Remove the nut that attaches the compressor suction/discharge hose bracket to the engine.

  13. Object Number: 280389  Size: SH
  14. Remove the compressor discharge hose nut (6) from the condenser.
  15. Remove the compressor suction hose nut (1) from the accumulator.
  16. Remove the bolt from the trans filler tube to the oil indicator tube.
  17. Remove trans filler tube from the throttle cable bracket.
  18. Remove the compressor suction/discharge hose from the vehicle.
  19. Cap all open connections on the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  9. Install the compressor discharge hose nut (6) to the condenser.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the compressor discharge hose nut (6) to the condenser to 48 N·m (35 lb ft).

  13. Install the nut that attaches the compressor suction/discharge hose bracket to the engine.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the nut that attaches the compressor suction/discharge hose bracket to the engine to 27 N·m (26 lb in).

  15. Install the compressor suction/discharge hose seals.
  16. 9.1. Coat the new sealing washers and O-rings with a coat of 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.
    9.2. Install new O-ring seals to the compressor suction/discharge hose ends.
    9.3. Install new seal washers to the compressor.
    9.4. Install the sealing washers. Refer to Compressor Sealing Washers Replacement .

  17. Install the compressor suction/discharge hose bolt (2) to the compressor.
  18. Tighten
    Tighten the compressor suction/discharge hose bolt (2) to the compressor to 35 N·m (26 lb ft).

  19. Install the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement in Interior Trim.
  20. Install the grille. Refer to Grille Replacement in Exterior Trim.
  21. Evacuate and charge the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  22. Leak test the fitting(s) of the repaired or reinstalled component using the J 39400 .
  23. Install the air cleaner. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls.
  24. Connect the MAF and the IAT.
  25. Close the hood.
