Important: 

   • Check for a good connection between the RKE antenna and the RKE Receiver Module
   • Check and verify that the antenna is routed and placed as specified in the RKE section
The incorrect symptoms specified above can cause intermittent and non-functional conditions in the RKE system.

An antenna that is incorrectly routed can greatly reduce the range of the RKE system.

Refer to Keyless Entry Component Views for a view of the correct routing location of the RKE antenna, and the location of the RKE receiver module.

Did you review the RKE operation and perform the necessary inspections?

Lock and Unlock all doors with the LH and RH door lock switches inside the vehicle.

Do all of the doors function properly?

  1. Turn on the J 43241 J 43241 RKE Transmitter Tester.
  2. Place the transmitter on the Remote Keyless Entry Transmitter tester.
  3. Activate each button on the transmitter.

Did the green light illuminate and tone sound for every button activated?

Are all of the buttons on the transmitter inoperative?

Replace the customers transmitter. Refer to Transmitter Programming .

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 10

Replace the battery in the customers transmitter. Refer to Transmitter Battery Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

Check the following two CKT's: Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

    • Verify B+ voltage CKT 1840 (ORN)
    • Continuity of CKT 1050 (BLK)

Was a faulty circuit found and repaired?

Go to Step 10

  1. Replace the RKE receiver module. Refer to Receiver Replacement .
  2. Program the customers transmitter. Refer to Transmitter Programming .
  3. Operate the RKE system.

Does the system function normally?

Go to Step 10

  1. Replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement .
  2. Reprogram the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration .

Is the repair complete?

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
