The pulse-type wiper/washer system includes an operating mode in which the wipers make single strokes. The single strokes have an adjustable time interval. A solid state pulse/speed/wash control, in the front windshield wiper motor and module, controls the time interval. The pulse delay resistance in the front wiper/washer switch determines the duration of the relay interval.
In the LO position, the front wiper/washer switch supplies a controlled voltage to the following components:

The solid state logic circuitry provides ground to the park/run relay. The park/run relay energizes and supplies the voltage to the brushes of the wiper motor. The wipers run at low speed until the wipers are turned to the OFF position.
With the front wiper/washer switch in the HI position, the front windshield wiper/washer switch supplies a controlled voltage to CKT 96 (BRN). CKT 96 (BRN) supplies a controlled voltage to the solid state logic in the front wiper motor and module. The front wiper/washer switch also supplies the battery voltage to the front windshield wiper motor and module from CKT 92 (PPL). The voltage supplies directly to a second armature terminal of the wiper motor. When the front wiper/washer switch is in the OFF position, the wipers complete the last sweep at the low speed and park.
When the wipers are in the OFF position, the wiper motor runs at the low speed until the wiper blades reach the PARK position. At that time, the park/run relay opens and shunts the wiper motor in order to stop the motor immediately. The wiper blades remain in the PARK position.
Moving the control to the MIST position and releasing the control causes the wipers to make one sweep at the low speed and return to the PARK position. The circuit operation is the same as the low speed.
With the front wiper/washer switch in the DELAY (pulse) position a controlled voltage passes through a resistance and applies to the following components:

Voltage is available to the park/run relay coil. The park/run relay coil momentarily grounds when the solid state logic circuitry and the relay close. Battery voltage is available through the closed contacts of the relay in order to run the wiper motor. The relay energizes, as long as the contracts of the park/run switch remain closed. When the wiper blades reach the PARK position, the park/run switch opens. When the park/run switch opens the park/run relay de-energizes. The wiper blades remain in the PARK position until the solid state logic board grounds the park/relay coil in order to start another sweep. The pulse delay resistors inside the front wiper/washer switch control the delay time between the sweeps. The delay is adjustable from 0-43 seconds.
Depressing the washer switch supplies the voltage to the solid state logic board. The control board supplies the battery voltage to the front windshield washer pump motor through CKT 94 (PNK). The control board starts the wiper cycle through the low speed brushes of the wiper motor. The washer continues to run as long as the switch is held down. The solid state logic board keeps the wipers on for approximately 6 seconds after the washer goes OFF. If the washer switches on during the DELAY operation, the wipers run in the low speed for 6 seconds. The wash cycle completes before the wipers return to the delay pulse operation.
A circuit breaker is a part of the wiper motor. The circuit breaker protects the motor when there is a blockage at the wipers. The resulting high current will open the circuit breaker. The circuit breaker will reset upon cooling.
