Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  2. Object Number: 316185  Size: SH
  3. Remove the hitch from the frame nuts.
  4. Remove the hitch to frame bolts.
  5. Remove the hitch and bumper from the vehicle.
  6. Remove the hitch to bumper nuts.
  7. Remove the hitch to bumper bolts.
  8. Remove the hitch from the bumper.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 316185  Size: SH
  1. Install the hitch to the bumper.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the hitch to bumper bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the hitch to bumper bolts to 35 N·m (26 lb ft).

  5. Install the hitch to bumper nuts.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the hitch to bumper nuts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  7. Install the hitch and the bumper to the vehicle.
  8. Install the hitch to frame nuts.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the hitch to frame nuts to 60 N·m (44 lb ft).

  10. Install the hitch to frame bolts.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the hitch to frame bolts to 55 N·m (41 lb ft).

  12. Lower the vehicle.
