Removal Procedure

  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the starter. Refer to Starter Motor Replacement in Engine Electrical.

  3. Object Number: 408374  Size: SH
  4. Remove the converter housing access plug.
  5. Mark the converter and flywheel orientation for proper alignment during installation.

  6. Object Number: 394457  Size: SH
  7. Remove the flywheel to converter bolts.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 394457  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the flywheel to converter bolts. Align the marks made during removal. Do not draw the converter to the flywheel with the bolts. Hand start the bolts until all the bolts are installed.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 60 N·m (44 lb ft).

  3. Install the converter housing access plug.
  4. Install the starter. Refer to Starter Motor Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  5. Lower the vehicle.
