Schematic Reference: Wiper/Washer Schematics

DEFINITION: The rear wiper motor is inoperative in all modes, the rear washer pump may or may not operate.

Did you review the Rear Wiper/Washer System Description and Operation and perform the necessary inspections?

Go to Step 2

  1. Turn the ignition on.
  2. Turn the rear wiper/washer switch through all the switch positions.

Does the rear wiper/washer system operate normal?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Does the rear washer pump operate when the rear washer switch is pressed?

Go to Step 4

Test and repair the rear wiper motor module ground circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs or Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 10

  1. Using a test lamp backprobe across the rear wiper motor connector supply and ground circuit terminals.
  2. Turn the ignition on.
  3. Turn the rear wiper/washer switch to the on position.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 8

Test and repair the rear wiper/washer switch accessory voltage supply circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs or Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 10

Replace the rear wiper motor module.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 10

Replace the rear wiper motor. Refer to Liftgate Wiper Motor Replacement .

Replace the rear wiper/washer switch. Refer to Accessory Switch Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.
