Schematic Reference: Wiper/Washer Schematics

DEFINITION: The high speed wipers operate at low speed.

Did you review the Wiper/Washer System Circuit Description and perform the necessary inspections?

Go to Step 2

Go to Symptoms - Wiper/Washer Systems

1. Turn the ignition on.
2. Turn the windshield wiper/washer switch to the high speed position.

Do the high speed windshield wipers operate normal?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

1. Disconnect the windshield wiper motor connector.
2. Turn the ignition on.
3. Turn the windshield wiper/washer switch to the high speed position.
4. Connect a test lamp from the windshield wiper motor connector high speed signal circuit terminal to ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 4

Test and repair the windshield wiper motor high speed signal circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs or Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 7

Go to Step 5

Replace the windshield wiper/washer switch. Refer to Multifunction, Turn Signal, and Hazard Switch Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column-Tilt or Multifunction, Turn Signal, and Hazard Switch Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column-Standard.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 7

Replace the windshield wiper motor. Refer to Windshield Wiper Motor Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 7

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
