Voltage to the rear liftgate release system is available at all times through the CIG LTR fuse located in the IP fuse block. Voltage flows from the CIG LTR fuse to the liftgate lock/unlock release switch. When the liftgate lock/unlock release switch is depressed voltage can then flow to the liftgate lock/unlock relay. If the liftgate lock/unlock relay is in the unlock position, voltage will then be applied to the liftgate release motor rear, resulting in the rear liftgate opening. The rear liftgate lock/unlock relay must be in the UNLOCK position in order for the liftgate lock/unlock release switch to function.

The electrical circuit is completed under the following conditions:

    • The liftgate lock/unlock relay is in the UNLOCK position
    • The liftgate lock/unlock release switch button is depressed

Unlock the door lock system with any of the following components:

    • The LH power door lock switch
    • The RH power door lock switch
    • The RKE (if equipped) will release the rear window through the rear door unlock relay located in relay center 1. This relay is enabled through the Body Control Module (BCM), which is triggered by the RKE activation signal.
