Did you review the Rear Wiper/Washer System Description and Operation and perform the necessary inspections?

  1. Turn the ignition ON.
  2. Press the rear window washer switch.

Does the rear window washer operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Does the rear window wiper motor operate when the washer switch is pressed?

Go to Step 6

  1. Disconnect the rear window wiper motor module switch input connector.
  2. Connect a test lamp from the rear window washer control circuit terminal in the wiper motor module harness connector to a good ground.
  3. Turn the ignition ON.
  4. Press the rear window washer switch.

Does the test lamp illuminate when the rear window washer switch is pressed?

Go to Step 10

Test the rear window washer control circuit for a short to ground an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 16

  1. Disconnect the rear window washer fluid pump connector.
  2. Connect a test lamp from the rear window washer control circuit terminal in the washer pump harness connector to a good ground.
  3. Turn the ignition ON.
  4. Press the rear window washer switch.

Does the test lamp illuminate when the rear window washer switch is pressed?

Go to Step 7

  1. Connect a test lamp from the rear window washer control circuit terminal to the ground circuit terminal in the washer pump harness connector.
  2. Press the rear window washer switch.

Does the test lamp illuminate when the rear window washer switch is pressed?

Go to Step 14

Repair the rear window washer control circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Repair the rear window washer pump ground circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the rear window wiper motor module. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 16

Replace the rear window wiper motor module. Refer to Liftgate Wiper Motor Replacement .

Inspect for poor connections at the rear window wiper/washer switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
