OIL LEVEL INDICATOR INCORRECT (NEW P/N RELEASED)

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1987 P30 MOTOR HOME CHASSIS WITH THE 7.4L (VIN CODE W) CARBURETED ENGINE

Owners of Some 1987 P30 motor home chassis with 7.4L carbureted engines may comment that the oil level indicator assembly is (1) difficult to reinstall or (2) that the gauge shows the incorrect oil level.

If these conditions are encountered, they can be repaired using a new oil level indicator, P/N 10085674. The new design indicator incorporates a "T" handle on the end and a twist on the shaft making it easier to install, and a relocated oil fill level marking.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
