Removal Procedure
- Remove the power steering
pump. Refer to
Power Steering Pump Replacement
.
- Remove the power steering pump reservoir. Refer to
Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement - Off Vehicle
.
- Remove the retaining ring (3).
- Remove the end plate (4) and the spring (5).
Important: Examine the exposed portion of the pump drive shaft. If corrosion is
evident, clean the drive shaft with crocus cloth before removing the shaft.
This will prevent damage to the shaft bushing which may require replacement
of the entire housing.
- Remove the pressure plate (10) by using a rubber mallet to tap lightly
on the drive shaft (5).
- Remove the pump ring (9).
- Remove the pump vanes (8).
- Remove the shaft, the rotor and the thrust plate assembly.
- Remove the shaft retaining ring (11).
- Remove the pump rotor (7).
- Remove the thrust plate (13).
- Remove the drive shaft (15).
- Remove the dowel pins (14).
- Remove the O-ring seals (2, 3).
Installation Procedure
Important: Use new seals and a new drive shaft retaining ring when assembling the
pump.
- Lubricate the O-ring seals
(2, 3) with power steering fluid.
- Install the O-rings (2, 3) to the housing (1).
- Install the dowel pins (14) to the housing (1).
- Install the thrust plate (13) and the pump rotor (12) to the drive
shaft (15) and secure with the retaining ring (11).
- Install the shaft, the rotor and the thrust plate assembly to
the housing (1).
- Install the pump vanes (8) to the pump rotor (12).
- Install the pump ring (9) to the housing (1).
The identification arrows on the top edge of the ring (9) must face
outward.
- Install the pressure plate (10).
- Install the spring (5)
and the end plate (4).
- Install the retaining ring (3).
- Install the pump reservoir. Refer to
Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement - Off Vehicle

- Install the power steering pump. Refer to
