The temperature and compass display module can perform the self diagnostic test in order to display segments and internal circuitry. Refer to the Self Diagnostic Chart in order to initiate and interpret the self diagnostic capabilities.

Perform the self-diagnostic tests on the driver information display. Refer to Driver Information System Self Diagnosis for the procedure.

The display segments light for 2 seconds, then turn off for 2 seconds.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  2. Toggle the display MODE button to temperature/compass.
    • The outside temperature is displayed.
    • The display shows a compass readout on one side of the display, when the trip functions are not displayed.

Toggle the display MODE button to the trip computer functions.

The driver information display shows one of the following functions:

    • Average Fuel Economy
    • Instantaneous Fuel Economy
    • Trip Range
    • Fuel Used
    • Average Speed

Turn ON the park lamps.

Adjust the dimmer switch for the headlamp and instrument panel lamp assembly.

The driver information display brightness varies while you adjust the headlamp and instrument lamp dimmer switch.

  1. Set the display to one of the following modes:
  2. • AVE ECON
    • FUEL USED
    • AVG SPEED
  3. Press the MODE button and the ENGLISH/METRIC button simultaneously for 2 seconds.
  1. The display shows all of the segments ON for a period of 2 seconds.
  2. The display resets the following modes if you are in that function:
  3. • AVE ECON
    • FUEL USED
    • AVG SPEED

Press the ENGLISH/METRIC switch.

The display units change from English to Metric.

Turn OFF the ignition switch, then turn ON the ignition switch.

The display retains the last request mode before turning off the ignition.
