Seat Back Recliner Replacement YC5 and YC6

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the seat from the riser. Refer to Bucket Seat Replacement or Seat Replacement - Power with Adjuster .
  2. Remove the screw retaining the recliner handle to the recliner assembly.
  3. Remove the following seat cover J-clips from the seat cushion frame:
  4. • The J-clip at the rear of the seat.
    • The J-clip on the recliner side of the seat.
    • The J-clip on the recliner side of the seat that retains the seat cover to the carpet on the back of the seat.

    Important: When removing the recliner retaining bolts, note the position and length of the bolts. This will assist with reassembly.

  5. Remove the bolts retaining the recliner to the seat cushion frame.
  6. Remove the armrests, if equipped. Refer to Armrest Replacement .
  7. Lift the seat back cover above the bolts retaining the recliner to the seat back frame.
  8. Lift the seat back pad above the bolts retaining the recliner to the seat back frame.
  9. Important: When removing the bolts, note the position and length of the bolts. This will assist with reassembly.

  10. Remove the recliner retaining bolts.
  11. Important: Handle the seat carefully when just one side of the seat back is attached to the seat cushion. Improper handling may damage the seat back hinge or the lumbar support cable.

  12. Remove the recliner from the seat.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the recliner to the seat.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the bolts retaining the recliner to the seat back frame. Install the bolts in the locations noted during removal.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts retaining the recliner to the seat back frame to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  5. Install the armrests, if equipped. Refer to Armrest Replacement .

  6. Object Number: 300210  Size: SH
  7. Install the bolts retaining the recliner to the seat cushion frame. Install the bolts in the positions from which they were removed, as noted during disassembly.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts retaining the recliner to the seat cushion frame 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  9. Install the seat cover J-clips to the seat cushion frame as follows:
  10. 5.1. Install the J-clip retaining the seat cover to the carpet on the back of the recliner side of the seat.
    5.2. Install the J-clip to the seat frame on the recliner side of the seat.
    5.3. Install the J-clip at the rear of the seat.
    5.4. Install the screw retaining the recliner handle to the recliner.

    Tighten
    Tighten the screw retaining the recliner handle to the recliner to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  11. Install the seat to the riser. Refer to Bucket Seat Replacement or Seat Replacement - Power with Adjuster .

Seat Back Recliner Replacement YC7

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the seat from the riser. Refer to Bucket Seat Replacement , or Seat Replacement - Power with Adjuster .
  2. Remove the armrest from the recliner side of the seat. Refer to Armrest Replacement .
  3. Remove the J-hooks retaining the carpet on the back of the seat cushion to the corners of the seat cushion trim cover.
  4. Remove the screw retaining the seat back recliner handle to the recliner.

    Important: When removing the recliner retaining bolts, note the position and length of the bolts. This will assist with reassembly.

  6. Remove the bolts retaining the recliner to the seat back and seat cushion frames.

  8. Remove the recliner from the seat.

  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt retaining the recliner handle to the recline to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  7. Install the J-hooks retaining the carpet on the back of the seat cushion to the corners of the seat cushion trim cover.
  8. Install the armrest. Refer to Armrest Replacement .
  9. Install the seat to the riser. Refer to Bucket Seat Replacement , or Seat Replacement - Power with Adjuster .
