Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the trim panel. Refer to Rear Door Trim Panel Replacement .
  2. Use a sharp bladed tool, if needed, in order to separate the water deflector at the perforation. Refer to Water Deflector Replacement .
  3. Remove the control rods from the lock assembly.
  4. Remove the door to handle nuts.
  5. Remove the handle from the door.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the clips to the handle.
  2. Install the handle to the door.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the handle to the door with nuts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 11 N·m (97 lb in).

    Important: Install new control rod retainers whenever they are removed.

  6. Install the control rod to the handle.
  7. Install the water deflector.
  8. Install the left door trim panel.
