Problem

Action

The ball joints and the steering linkage lack lubrication.

Lubricate the ball joints and the linkage. Refer to Explanation of Scheduled Services in Maintenance and Lubrication.

The front or rear tire pressure is low or uneven.

Inflate the tires to the recommended pressure. Refer to Tire Inflation Pressure Specifications in Maintenance and Lubrication.

The wheel bearing is worn or loose.

Replace the hub and wheel bearing assembly.

    • For RWD, refer to Front Wheel Hub, Bearing, and Seal Replacement in Front Suspension.
    • For A4WD, refer to Front Wheel Hub, Bearing, and Seal Replacement in Front Suspension.

The front wheel alignment setting (caster) is incorrect.

  1. Check the alignment settings.
  2. Align the front wheels as needed. Refer to Wheel Alignment Measurement in Wheel Alignment.

The spring is broken or sagging (RWD).

Replace the spring. Refer to Front Coil Springs Replacement in Front Suspension.

The torsion bars are broken or sagging (A4WD).

Adjust the torsion bar. Refer to Torsion Bar Replacement in Front Suspension.

The shock absorber is malfunctioning.

Replace the shock absorber as needed.

    • For RWD, refer to Shock Absorber Replacement in Front Suspension.
    • For A4WD, refer to Shock Absorber Replacement in Front Suspension.

The stabilizer shaft is broken or has a missing link.

Replace the stabilizer shaft or the link.

    • For A4WD, refer to Stabilizer Shaft Replacement in Front Suspension.
