Removal Procedure
- Remove the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement in Interior Trim.
- Disconnect the spark plug wires for the right side of the engine from the distributor cap. Refer to Spark Plug Wire Replacement in Engine Controls-4.3 L.
- Remove the PCV tube from the valve rocker arm cover and the air cleaner outlet duct.
- Remove the engine wiring harness bracket from the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve stud.
- Move the engine wiring harness aside.
- Remove the right valve rocker arm cover. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Removal - Right Side in Engine Unit Repair.
- Clean all sealing surfaces and the valve rocker arm cover. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Cleaning and Inspection in Engine Unit Repair.
Installation Procedure
- Install the right valve rocker arm cover and bolts. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Installation - Right Side in Engine Unit Repair.
- Install the engine wiring harness bracket and nut to EVAP canister purge solenoid valve stud.
- Install the PCV hose in the valve rocker arm cover and the air cleaner outlet duct.
- Connect the spark plug wires to the distributor cap. Refer to Spark Plug Wire Replacement in Engine Controls-4.3 L.
- Install the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement in Interior Trim.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the engine wiring harness bracket nut to 8 N·m
(71 lb in).
