Did you review the Rear Wiper/Washer System Description and Operation and perform the necessary inspections?

Go to Step 2

  1. Turn the ignition on.
  2. Turn the rear wiper/washer switch to the off position.

Is the rear wiper always on?

Go to Step 3

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

  1. Disconnect the rear wiper motor module switch input connector.
  2. Turn the rear wiper/washer switch to the off position.
  3. Connect a test lamp from the rear wiper/washer switch delay/on signal circuit terminal in the harness connector to ground.
  4. Turn the ignition on.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 5

Test and repair the rear wiper/washer switch delay/on signal circuit for a short to voltage.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 9

Go to Step 6

  1. Reconnect the rear wiper motor module switch input connector.
  2. Turn the ignition on.
  3. Turn the rear wiper/washer switch to the off position.
  4. Backprobe the rear wiper motor park switch signal circuit terminal E with a test lamp connected to ground.

Is the test lamp off when the wiper arm is in the park position?

Go to Step 8

Go to Step 7

Replace the rear wiper/washer switch. Refer to Accessory Switch Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 9

Replace the rear wiper motor module.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 9

Replace the rear wiper motor. Refer to Liftgate Wiper Motor Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 9

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
