Schematic Reference: Wiper/Washer Schematics

Did you review the Rear Wiper/Washer System Description and Operation and perform the necessary inspections?

Go to Step 2

Go to Symptoms - Wiper/Washer Systems

1. Turn the ignition on.
2. Press the rear washer switch.

Does the rear washer operate normal?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Does the rear wiper arm operate when the washer switch is pressed?

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 4

1. Disconnect the rear wiper motor module switch input connector.
2. Connect a test lamp from the rear washer control circuit terminal to ground.
3. Press the rear washer switch.

Does the test lamp illuminate when the rear washer switch is pressed?

Go to Step 8

Go to Step 5

Test and repair the rear washer control circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs or Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 11

Go to Step 9

1. Disconnect the rear washer pump connector.
2. Connect a test lamp across the washer pump connector terminals.
3. Turn the ignition on.
4. Press the rear washer switch.

Does the test lamp illuminate when the rear washer switch is pressed?

Go to Step 10

Go to Step 7

Repair the rear washer control circuit to the rear washer pump or the washer pump ground circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs or Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 11

Replace the rear wiper motor module.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 11

Replace the rear wiper/washer switch. Refer to Accessory Switch Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 11

Replace the rear washer pump. Refer to Washer Pump Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 11

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

Did you correct the condition?

System OK
