Removal Procedure
- Remove the oil pan. Refer to
Oil Pan Replacement
.
- Remove the oil pump bolt from the crankshaft main bearing cap.
- Remove the oil pump.
• | Inspect the oil pump pickup tube and the screen for damage or
looseness. |
• | If the oil pump tube is damaged or loose, replace the oil pump. |
Installation Procedure
- Install the oil pump to the engine.
1.1. | Align the slot in the oil pump shaft with the tang on the distributor
shaft. |
1.2. | The oil pump should slide easily into place. |
1.3. | Do not use a gasket. |
Important: Make sure that the oil pump assembly is installed properly in to the
engine before tightening the mounting bolts.
- Install the oil pump bolt to the crankshaft main bearing cap.
Tighten
Tighten the oil pump bolt to 90 N·m (65 lb ft).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
