Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the engine air cleaner. Refer to Driveability, Emission, and Electrical Diagnosis.
  2. Remove the transmission fluid level indicator from the fluid fill tube.

  3. Object Number: 102291  Size: SH
  4. Remove the nut securing the transmission fluid fill tube bracket to the engine bracket.
  5. Remove the top of the fluid fill tube from the bottom of the fluid fill tube.
  6. Raise the vehicle. Refer to General Vehicle Jacking and Lifting in General Information.
  7. Support the vehicle with safety stands.
  8. Remove any dirt from the transmission where the fluid fill tube enters the transmission case.
  9. Remove the bottom of the transmission fluid fill tube from the transmission. Pull the tube upward from the transmission.
  10. Remove the fluid fill tube seal from the transmission
  11. Clean the metal parts using solvent. Do not allow the solvent to enter the transmission.
  12. Air dry the parts.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 102291  Size: SH
  1. Install a new transmission fluid fill tube seal into the transmission case.
  2. Install the bottom of the fluid fill tube into the seal.
  3. Remove the safety stands.
  4. Lower the vehicle.
  5. Install the top of the fluid fill tube into the bottom of fluid fill tube
  6. Install the nut securing the fluid fill tube to the engine bracket.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 47 N·m (35 lb ft).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  8. Install the air cleaner. Refer to Driveability, Emissions, and Electrical Diagnosis.
  9. Install the oil level indicator into the fluid fill tube.
  10. Check the transmission fluid level. Refer to Transmission Fluid Check
