1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
2. Remove the propeller shaft. Refer to Propeller Shaft Replacement (Rear) or Propeller Shaft Replacement (Front) in Driveline Axle.



3. Remove the rear extension oil seal.

Required Tools

J 21426 Rear Extension Seal Installer

1. Install the new seal using J 21426 .
2. Coat the outer edge of the seal case with the non-hardening sealer provided.
3. Coat the seal lips with Transjel®.
4. Install the propeller shaft. Refer to Propeller Shaft Replacement (Rear) or Propeller Shaft Replacement (Front) in Driveline Axle.
5. Lower the vehicle.
6. Fill the transmission to the proper level with Dexron® III Transmission Fluid. Refer to Transmission Fluid Check
