Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the valve rocker arm cover. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 68713  Size: SH

    Important: Store used components in order so that they can be reassembled in the same location.

  3. Remove the valve rocker arm nut.
  4. • If only the pushrod is being replaced, back the valve rocker arm nut off until the valve rocker arm can rotate away from the pushrod.
    • Then remove the pushrod.
  5. Remove the valve rocker arm with the ball.

  6. Object Number: 22766  Size: SH
  7. Remove the pushrod.
  8. Clean and inspect all parts.
  9. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rods Clean and Inspect

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 68713  Size: SH

    Important: When new valve rocker arms and/or balls are installed, coat their bearing surfaces with a high viscosity lubricant containing zinc, such as GM P/N 1052367.

  1. Install the pushrod.
  2. Important: Make sure the pushrod seats properly in the valve lifter.

  3. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Installation
  4. Install the valve rocker arm with the ball to the rocker arm stud.
  5. Install the valve rocker arm nut.
  6. Adjust the valve lash. Refer to Valve Lash Adjustment
  7. Install the valve rocker arm covers. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement .
