Connect a digital multimeter (DMM) between connector C200, cavity A16, and ground.

Is continuity present?

1. Place the transmission in PARK.
2. Place the ignition witch in the RUN position.
3. Connect the unpowered test lamp between connector C200, cavity  A17 and ground.

Does the test lamp light?

--

Go to Step 8

1. Disconnect the connector at the torque converter clutch (TCC)/stoplamp switch.
2. Disconnect connector C200 at the steering column.
3. Connect a DMM between the TCC/stoplamp switch connector, cavity A, and connector C200, cavity A17.

Is continuity present?

Connect a DMM between TCC/stoplamp switch pin B and pin A.

is continuity present?

--

Go to Step 10

1. Disconnect connector C1 at the park/neutral position (PNP) switch.
2. Connect a DMM to the PNP switch connector C1, cavity B, and the TCC/stoplamp switch connector, cavity B.

Is continuity present?

--

Connect an unpowered test lamp between PNP switch connector C1, cavity C, and ground.

Does the test lamp light?

--

Go to Step 12

Go to Step 14

Repair the open in CKT 150 (BLK) between the automatic transmission (AT) shift lock solenoid and ground G200.

Is the brake transmission shift interlock operative?

--

System OK

Go to Step 2

Adjust or replace the AT shift lock solenoid. Refer to Auto Trans Shift Lock Control Actuator Adjustment or Auto Trans Shift Lock Control Actuator Replacement.

Is the brake transmission shift interlock operative?

-

System OK

Go to Step 3

Repair the open in CKT 1135 (GRN/WHT) between the TCC/stoplamp switch and connector C200.

Is the brake transmission shift interlock operative?

System OK

Go to Step 4

Replace the TCC/stoplamp switch. Refer to Stop Lamp Switch Replacement in Hydraulic Brakes.

Is the brake transmission shift interlock operative?

--

System OK

Go to Step 5

Repair the open in CKT 275 (LT GRN) between the PNP switch and the TCC/stoplamp switch.

Is the brake transmission shift interlock operative?

--

System OK

Go to Step 6

Check the adjustment of the PNP switch. Refer to Park/Neutral Position Switch Adjustment in Automatic Transmission.

Is the brake transmission shift interlock operative?

--

System OK

Go to Step 13

Replace the PNP switch. Refer to Park/Neutral Position Switch Replacement in Automatic Transmission - 4L60E or Park/Neutral Position Switch Replacement in Automatic Transmission - 4L80E.

Is the brake transmission shift interlock operative?

System OK

Repair the open in CKT 139 (PNK) between the TURN B/U fuse and the PNP switch.

Is the brake transmission shift interlock operative?
