Removal Procedure
- Mark the location of the fasteners and the brackets to the bumper.
- Remove the bolts (2) retaining
the bumper brackets to the frame.
- Remove the bumper from the vehicle.
- Remove the bolts retaining the impact bar (3) to the front bumper.
- Remove the impact bar (3) from the bumper.
- Remove the step pad from the bumper (3) by gently squeezing the retaining
tangs using pliers and pushing the tangs through the slots in the bumper.
(If equipped)
- Remove the step pad from the bumper (3).
- Remove the step pad extensions (4) by removing the retaining nuts
(2). (If equipped)
Installation Procedure
- Install the step pad to the bumper (3).
- Align the tangs on the step pad with the slots in the bumper (3).
- Using a rubber mallet set the tangs in place starting at the center
of the molding and working toward each end.
- Install the step pad extensions (4). (If equipped)
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the impact
bar (3) to the bumper (4) and install the bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Install the bumper mounting
brackets (3) to the bumper, aligning the marks made prior to removal.
- Install the bolts retaining the bumper brackets.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Install the bumper to the vehicle.
- Install the bolts (2) retaining the bumper to the frame.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).
