Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 156766  Size: SH
  1. Remove the rear brake cylinder pushrod from the cylinder bore.
  2. Remove the rear brake bleeder valve (5) from the rear brake cylinder.
  3. Remove the rear brake piston cylinder boots (3) from the rear brake cylinder.
  4. Remove the rear brake cylinder pistons (2) from the rear brake cylinder.
  5. Remove the rear brake cylinder seals (1) from the rear brake cylinder.
  6. Remove the rear brake cylinder spring (4) from the rear brake cylinder.
  7. Inspect the rear brake cylinder bore for scoring and corrosion.
  8. Inspect the rear brake cylinder spring for signs of discoloration due to heat. Replace if necessary.
  9. Clean the inside of the rear brake cylinder bore with a crocus cloth. If the bore is still scored, replace the brake cylinder.
  10. Clean the rear brake cylinder with clean brake fluid.

Installation Procedure

  1. Lubricate the rear brake cylinder bore and seals with clean brake fluid.
  2. Install the rear brake cylinder spring (4) to the rear brake cylinder.
  3. Install the rear brake cylinder seals (1) to the rear brake cylinder.
  4. Install the rear brake cylinder pistons (2) to the rear brake cylinder.
  5. Install the rear brake piston cylinder boots (3) to the rear brake cylinder.
  6. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Install the rear brake bleeder valve (5) to the rear brake cylinder.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the rear brake bleeder valve to 13 N·m (100 lb in).

  9. Install the rear brake cylinder pushrod to the rear brake cylinder.
