Removal Procedure

  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Support the propeller shaft with safety stands.

  3. Object Number: 159366  Size: SH
  4. Remove the center bearing bolts (3).

  5. Object Number: 159403  Size: SH
  6. Remove the propeller shaft hanger bolts.
  7. Remove the propeller shaft hanger.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 159403  Size: SH
  1. Install the propeller shaft hanger.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the propeller shaft hanger bolts.
  4. Tighten

        • Tighten the propeller shaft hanger bolts to 38 N·m (28 lb ft) (155 inch wheel base vehicles).
        • Tighten the propeller shaft hanger bolts to 58 N·m (43 lb ft) (for all other vehicles).

  5. Install the center bearing (5) to the propeller shaft hanger (1).
  6. Install the center bearing support bolts (3).
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the center bearing support bolts to 58 N·m (43 lb ft).

  8. Remove the safety stands.
  9. Lower the vehicle.
