Removal Procedure
- Remove the rear brake
cylinder pushrod from the cylinder bore.
- Remove the rear brake bleeder valve (5) from the rear brake cylinder.
- Remove the rear brake piston cylinder boots (3) from the rear
brake cylinder.
- Remove the rear brake cylinder pistons (2) from the rear brake
cylinder.
- Remove the rear brake cylinder seals (1) from the rear brake cylinder.
- Remove the rear brake cylinder spring (4) from the rear brake
cylinder.
- Inspect the rear brake cylinder bore for scoring and corrosion.
- Inspect the rear brake cylinder spring for signs of discoloration
due to heat. Replace if necessary.
- Clean the inside of the rear brake cylinder bore with a crocus
cloth. If the bore is still scored, replace the brake cylinder.
- Clean the rear brake cylinder with clean brake fluid.
Installation Procedure
- Lubricate the rear brake
cylinder bore and seals with clean brake fluid.
- Install the rear brake cylinder spring (4) to the rear brake cylinder.
- Install the rear brake cylinder seals (1) to the rear brake cylinder.
- Install the rear brake cylinder pistons (2) to the rear brake
cylinder.
- Install the rear brake piston cylinder boots (3) to the rear brake
cylinder.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install
the rear brake bleeder valve (5) to the rear brake cylinder.
Tighten
Tighten the rear brake bleeder valve to 13 N·m (100 lb in).
- Install the rear brake cylinder pushrod to the rear brake cylinder.
