Removal Procedure
- Remove the stoplamp switch and power brake booster pushrod assembly
from the brake pedal pin. Refer to
Stop Lamp Switch Replacement
in Hydraulic Brakes.
- Remove the instrument
panel harness from the brake pedal bracket.
- Remove the bolt to the upper brake pedal bracket.
- Remove the nuts from
the studs on the power brake booster.
- Remove the brake pedal bracket from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Install the brake pedal
bracket to the vehicle.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the nuts
to the studs on the power brake booster.
Tighten
Tighten the power brake booster retaining nuts to 36 N·m
(27 lb ft).
- Install the bolt (4)
to the brake pedal bracket (5).
Tighten
Tighten the upper brake pedal bolt to 36 N·m (27 lb ft).
- Install the instrument panel harness to the brake pedal bracket.
- Install the pushrod and stoplamp switch assembly to the brake
pedal pin. Refer to
Stop Lamp Switch Replacement
in Hydraulic Brakes.
- Check the brake pedal travel. Refer to
Brake System Testing
.
