Brake Warning Alarm Inoperative Low Fluid Pressure and Flow

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Connect an unpowered test lamp between the P/B booster fluid flow alarm switch ground stud for the BLK (150) wire and B+ (this is a normally closed switch).

Does the test lamp light?

--

Go to Step 3

  1. Disconnect the connector at the P/B booster fluid flow alarm switch.
  2. Connect an unpowered test lamp between P/B booster fluid flow alarm switch pin A and B+.

Does the test lamp light?

--

Go to Step 5

Repair the open in the BLK (150) wire between the P/B booster fluid flow alarm switch and ground G112

Does the alarm operate?

--

Replace the P/B booster fluid flow alarm switch.

Does the alarm sound?

--

  1. Disconnect the connector at the P/B booster fluid pressure alarm switch.
  2. Connect a J 39200 between P/B booster fluid pressure switch connector cavity B and P/B booster fluid flow alarm switch connector cavity A for the DK GRN (860) wire.
  3. Test for continuity

Is continuity present?

  1. Connect a J 39200 between P/B booster fluid pressure alarm switch pins A and B.
  2. Test for continuity (this is a normally closed switch).

Is continuity present?

Repair the open in the DK GRN (860) wire between the P/B booster fluid pressure alarm switch connector cavity Band the P/B booster fluid flow alarm switch connector cavity A.

Does the alarm sound?

Replace the P/B booster fluid pressure alarm switch.

Does the alarm sound?

--

  1. Disconnect the connector at the P/B booster fluid flow and pressure alarm delay module.
  2. Connect a J 39200 between P/B booster fluid flow and pressure alarm delay module connector cavity C and P/B booster fluid flow pressure alarm switch connector cavity A for the PNK (849) wire.
  3. Test for continuity.

Is continuity present?

Replace the P/B booster fluid flow and pressure alarm delay module.

Does the alarm sound?

Connect a J 39200 between the P/B booster fluid flow and pressure alarm delay module connector cavity C and connector C113 terminal A

Is continuity present?

Repair the open in the PNK (849) wire between the connector C113 cavity A and the P/B booster fluid pressure alarm switch connector cavity A.

Does the alarm sound?

Repair the open in the PNK (849) wire between the P/B booster fluid flow and pressure alarm delay module connector cavity C and connector C113 cavity A.

  1. Disconnect connector C217. Place the ignition switch in RUN.
  2. Connect an unpowered test lamp between connector C217 pin B for the BRN (441) wire and a known good ground.

Does the test lamp light?

--

Go to Step 3

  1. Disconnect the connector at the P/B booster fluid flow alarm.
  2. Disconnect the connector at the P/B booster fluid flow and the pressure alarm delay module.
  3. Connect an ohmmeter between connector C217 cavity B for the BLK/YEL (441) wire and P/B booster fluid flow and pressure alarm delay module connector cavity E for the BLK/YEL (1471) wire.

Does the ohmmeter display the correct resistance?

1.5 Kohms

Is the resistance much greater than the specified value?

1.5 Kohms

  1. Connect a J 39200 between connector C217 cavity B and P/B booster fluid flow alarm connector cavity B for the BLK/YEL (441) wire.
  2. Test for continuity.

Is continuity present?

Is there an open in the BLK/YEL (441) wire between connector C217 and in-line resistor R208?

Replace the shorted in-line resistor R208.

Is the alarm operative?

Connect a J 39200 between P/B booster fluid flow and pressure alarm delay module connector cavity E for the BLK/YEL (1471) wire and the P/B booster fluid flow alarm connector cavity A for the BLK/YEL (1471) wire.

Is continuity present?

Locate and repair the open in the BLK/YEL (1471) wire between in-line resistor R208 and the P/B booster fluid flow alarm.

Is the alarm operative?

Locate and repair the open in the BLK/YEL (1471) wire between the P/B booster fluid flow and pressure alarm delay module cavity E and the P/B booster fluid flow alarm cavity A.

Is the alarm operative?

Repair the open in the BRN (441) wire between the IP fuse block cavity N3 and connector C217 terminal B.

Locate and repair the open in the BLK/YEL (1471) wire between in-line resistor R208 and the P/B booster fluid flow and pressure delay module.

Is the alarm operative?

If no open is found in the wire, replace the open resistor R208.

Is the alarm operative?
