Removal Procedure
- Remove the instrument panel lower extension upper trim panel.

- Remove the bolts that
retain the instrument panel
passenger knee bolster to the knee bolster brackets.
- Pull on the instrument panel passenger knee bolster in order to
disengage the retainers.
- Remove the instrument panel passenger knee bolster from the vehicle.
- Inspect the instrument panel passenger knee bolster for broken
or missing retainers.
Replace the retainers as needed.
Installation Procedure
- Position the instrument
panel passenger knee
bolster to the vehicle.
- Push on the instrument panel passenger knee bolster in order to
engage the retainers.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the bolts
that retain the instrument panel knee bolster to the knee bolster brackets.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 4 N·m (35 lb in).
- Install the instrument panel lower extension upper trim panel.
