Exhaust Manifold Installation Left Side with RPO K19


    Object Number: 180888  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the exhaust manifold studs, if removed.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the exhaust manifold studs to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

    Important: Make sure the 7.4 marking on the gasket is facing away from the cylinder head.

  3. Install the new exhaust manifold gasket.
  4. Install the exhaust manifold.
  5. Install the exhaust manifold nuts and center bolt.
  6. Tighten

    1. Tighten the exhaust manifold nuts to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).
    2. Tighten the exhaust manifold center bolt to 54 N·m (40 lb ft).

  7. Install the spark plug heat shields.
  8. Install the spark plug heat shield nuts.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the spark plug heat shield nuts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  10. Install the ECT sensor into the left cylinder head.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the ECT sensor to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  12. Connect the ECT sensor wiring harness connector to the bracket on the upper intake manifold.

  13. Object Number: 354034  Size: SH
  14. Install the exhaust manifold adapter to the exhaust manifold, if removed.
  15. Tighten
    Tighten the exhaust manifold adapter to 160 N·m (118 lb ft).


    Object Number: 173284  Size: SH
  16. Install the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) inlet pipe to the exhaust manifold.
  17. Tighten
    Tighten the EGR inlet pipe nut at the exhaust manifold to 60 N·m (44 lb ft).

  18. Install the EGR inlet pipe to the intake manifold.
  19. Tighten
    Tighten the EGR inlet pipe nut at the intake manifold to 60 N·m (44 lb ft).

  20. Install the AIR tube assembly pipe to the exhaust manifold, if removed.
  21. Install the AIR tube assembly pipe bracket nut onto the exhaust manifold stud.

    Tighten

        • Tighten the AIR tube assembly pipe nut to 60 N·m (44 lb ft).
        • Tighten the AIR tube assembly pipe bracket nut to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).
  22. Install the spark plug wires onto the spark plugs.

  3. Install the new exhaust manifold gasket.
  4. Install the exhaust manifold.
  5. Install the exhaust manifold nuts and center bolt.
  6. Tighten

    1. Tighten the exhaust manifold nuts to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).
    2. Tighten the exhaust manifold center bolt to 54 N·m (40 lb ft).

  7. Install the spark plug heat shields.
  8. Install the spark plug heat shield nuts.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the spark plug heat shield nuts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  10. Install the ECT sensor into the left cylinder head.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the ECT sensor to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  12. Connect the ECT sensor wiring harness connector to the bracket on the upper intake manifold.

  13. Object Number: 354034  Size: SH
  14. Install the exhaust adapter, if removed.
  15. Tighten
    Tighten the exhaust adapter to 160 N·m (117 lb ft).

  16. Install the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) inlet pipe to the exhaust manifold.
  17. Tighten
    Tighten the EGR inlet pipe at the exhaust manifold to 60 N·m (44 lb ft).

  18. Install the EGR inlet pipe to the intake manifolds.
  19. Tighten
    Tighten the EGR inlet pipe at the intake manifold to 60 N·m (44 lb ft).

  20. Install the spark plug wires onto the spark plugs.

  8. Install the spark plug heat shield nuts.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the spark plug heat shield nuts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  10. Install the spark plug wires.

    2. Tighten the exhaust manifold center bolt (1) to 54 N·m (40 lb ft).

  7. Install the spark plug heat shields.
  8. Install the spark plug heat shield nuts.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the spark plug heat shield nuts to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  10. Install AIR tube assembly pipe into the exhaust manifold, if removed.
  11. Install the AIR tube assembly pipe bracket bolt to the cylinder head.
  12. Tighten

        • Tighten the AIR tube assembly pipe nut to 60 N·m (44 lb ft).
        • Tighten the AIR tube assembly pipe bracket bolt to 40 N·m (30 lb ft).
  13. Install the spark plug wires.
