Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 565298  Size: SH
  1. Remove the engine cover from the vehicle. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement in Interior Trim.
  2. Remove the air cleaner assembly and air intake duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls-6.5L.
  3. Remove the surge tank from the vehicle. Refer to Surge Tank (Diesel) Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  4. Remove the oil level indicator from the tube.
  5. Remove the oil level indicator from the thermostat crossover.

  7. Remove the engine oil level indicator tube at the left valve rocker arm cover.

  8. Object Number: 173185  Size: SH
  9. Remove the oil engine level indicator tube O-ring from the engine oil tube.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 173185  Size: SH
  1. Install the new O-ring seal to the oil level indicator tube.

  2. Object Number: 565324  Size: SH
  3. Install the oil level indicator tube on the valve rocker arm cover.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the oil level indicator tube retaining bolt.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 4 N·m (35 lb in).

  7. Install the oil level indicator to the thermostat cross over.
  8. Install the retaining bolts to the thermostat cross over
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).

  10. Install the oil level indicator in the tube.
  11. Install the surge tank in the vehicle. Refer to Surge Tank (Diesel) Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  12. Install the engine cover in the vehicle. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement in Interior Trim.
  13. Install the air cleaner assembly and air intake duct. Refer to in Engine Controls-6.5L.
