Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the battery from the vehicle. Refer to Battery Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  2. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  3. Drain the engine coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
  4. Remove the coolant recovery reservoir or surge tank. Refer to Coolant Recovery Reservoir Replacement or Surge Tank (Diesel) Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  5. Remove the electrical connectors.
  6. Remove the accumulator. Refer to Air Conditioning Accumulator Replacement .

  8. Remove the evaporator tube from the evaporator. Refer to Evaporator Tube Replacement .
  9. Remove the insulator cover.

  10. Object Number: 300823  Size: SH
  11. Remove the evaporator front cover.
  12. Separate the case halves.
  13. Remove the evaporator core.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the evaporator core. Refer to Refrigerant Oil Distribution , if replacing the evaporator core.

  2. Object Number: 300823  Size: SH
  3. Install the evaporator front cover.
  4. Install the insulator cover.

  5. Object Number: 300822  Size: SH
  6. Install the evaporator tube to the evaporator. Refer to Evaporator Tube Replacement .
  7. Install the accumulator. Refer to Air Conditioning Accumulator Replacement .
  8. Install the electrical connectors.
  9. Install the coolant recovery reservoir or surge tank. Refer to Coolant Recovery Reservoir Replacement or Surge Tank (Diesel) Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  10. Fill the engine coolant. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System in Engine Cooling.
  11. Evacuate and Recharge the refrigerant, if equipped. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  12. Install the battery to the vehicle. Refer to Battery Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  13. Inspect the system for leaks. Refer to Leak Testing .
