Vacuum Brake Booster Check Valve Replacement 4.3L Engine

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 161494  Size: SH
  1. Remove the check valve from the power brake booster.

  2. Object Number: 161500  Size: SH
  3. Remove the nut for the vacuum hose retaining bracket.
  4. Remove the vacuum hose retaining bracket from the stud.
  5. Remove the vacuum hose from the power brake booster intake valve at the intake manifold.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 161500  Size: SH
  1. Install the vacuum hose to the power brake booster intake valve at the intake manifold.
  2. Install the vacuum hose to the retaining bracket.
  3. Install the retaining bracket to the stud.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the nut to the stud.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 11 N·m (97 lb in).

  7. Install the check valve to the power brake booster.

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the check valve from the power brake booster.

  2. Object Number: 161497  Size: SH
  3. Remove the nut for the vacuum hose retaining bracket.
  4. Remove the vacuum hose retaining bracket from the stud.
  5. Remove the vacuum hose from the power brake booster intake valve at the intake manifold.

  1. Install the vacuum hose to the power brake booster intake valve at the intake manifold.
  2. Install the vacuum hose to the retaining bracket.
  3. Install the retaining bracket to the stud.
