Removal Procedure

  1. Complete the lever pin up procedure. Refer to Parking Brake Cable Adjuster Enabling .

  2. Object Number: 159773  Size: SH
  3. Remove the release handle. Refer to Parking Brake Release Handle Assembly Replacement .
  4. Remove the left side kick panel. Refer to Body Hinge Pillar Trim Panel Replacement .
  5. Remove the front brake cable from the lever.
  6. Remove the lever retaining nuts.
  7. Remove the lever from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Pin up the NEW lever. Refer to Parking Brake Cable Adjuster Enabling .

  2. Object Number: 159773  Size: SH
  3. Install the lever to the vehicle.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the lever retaining nuts.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the lever retaining nuts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  7. Connect the front brake cable to the lever.
  8. Install the release handle. Refer to Parking Brake Release Handle Assembly Replacement .
  9. Install the left side kick panel by snapping into the pillar. Refer to Body Hinge Pillar Trim Panel Replacement .
  10. Remove the pin from the lever.
  11. Move the lever into the FULL up position.
  12. Verify that the vehicle will hold position with the brake lever depressed.
  13. If additional adjustments need to be made, refer to Park Brake Cable Service/Adjustment .
