Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the instrument cluster trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster Trim Plate Bezel Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

  2. Object Number: 301678  Size: SH
  3. Remove the retaining screw (1) from the left edge of the control head (2).

  4. Object Number: 301662  Size: SH
  5. Pivot the control head from the instrument panel in order to disengage the tab on the right side of the control head.

  6. Object Number: 301661  Size: SH
  7. Pull the control head out of the instrument panel far enough in order to reach the vacuum and the electrical connectors.
  8. Remove the electrical connectors.
  9. Remove the vacuum connectors.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the vacuum connectors.
  2. Install the electrical connectors.

  3. Object Number: 301662  Size: SH
  4. Align the tab on the right side of the control head with the slot in the instrument panel.
  5. Pivot the control head into the instrument panel.

  6. Object Number: 301678  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Install the retaining screw (1) to the left edge of the control head.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the heater and the A/C control head retaining screw to 4 N·m (35 lb in).

  9. Install the instrument cluster trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster Trim Plate Bezel Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
