  1. Unbuckle the driver's seat belt.
  2. Turn the ignition to RUN.
  3. Observe the Fasten Safety Belt indicator.

Does the Fasten Safety Belt indicator illuminate?

  1. Disconnect multi-function alarm module connector C1.
  2. Disconnect the instrument cluster connector.
  3. Connect a J 39200 DMM between multifunction alarm module connector C1 cavity C2 for CKT 234 (YEL)and ground. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

Is continuity present?

Connect a J 39200 DMM between multi-function alarm module connector C1 cavity C2 and instrument cluster connector cavity A12 for CKT 234 (YEL). Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

Is continuity present?

  1. Connect multifunction alarm module connector C1.
  2. Connect a J 39200 DMM between instrument cluster connector cavity A12 for CKT 234 (YEL) and ground.
  3. Unbuckle the driver's seat belt.
  4. Place the ignition switch in RUN.
  5. Observe the indicated voltage.

Is the voltage less than the specified value?

10 V

Install a known good bulb in place of the safety belt lamp. Refer to Instrument Cluster Bulb Replacement in Lighting Systems.

Is the fasten safety belt indicator operative?

Repair the short to ground in CKT 234 (YEL) between the multi-function alarm module and the instrument cluster. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open in CKT 234 (YEL) between the multi-function alarm module and the instrument cluster. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
